How IT Changed Everybody’s Lives
As someone coming from one of the most widely criticized generation of all times, the millennials, born on 1995, I know what it is like having to use a typewriter from the Jurassic era versus a computer from the modern times for book reports needed for school.
1990s children are said to have the best of both worlds from experiencing the transitioning age of bulky telephones and mail envelopes, Walkman, Cassette tapes and desktop computers versus the portable, wireless, and sleek mobile phones.
Technology has changed drastically through the years and, it significantly made living easier.
Everything around us is within our reach by just a simple click in our phones, tablets, and computers.
If by then, we would need to have CD players, alarm clocks, a calendar, write a letter to distant relatives, now, we only need to have our smartphones with us. Kids now wouldn’t get to experience the excitement we felt when we sat in front of our television waiting for our fave cartoon show, they can always watch in online. In YouTube, in Netflix.
Shopping? Got it. Food? Order through a mobile phone application. Need to send flowers? Have it delivered within the day without leaving home. Bills? No need to go to malls and spend your precious time waiting for your turn to pay. You can all do it online!
I’ve tried it all, before the advent of the internet and now. Believe me, convenience is the word for it.
Social media is one of the greatest brain child of Information Technology. It connects us with people around the globe without us exhausting resources to go to one place from where we are. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram- name it. Almost everyone has it. Most people love it.
It is not only the personal necessities that benefited from IT. Office work has significantly improved due to all of these breakthroughs made possible by Technology.
Data gathering, processing of documents, tele-conferencing for meetings, emails instead of letters, publishing of articles online and in social media to broadcast the progress of the organization, all of these, accomplished easily because of the modern IT. Very efficient.
One could not possibly comprehend the extent of the services of Information Technology for us. It’s upon us how we’d use it all, though.
Make use of it for the good, abuse it for bad deeds.
Either way, The S word for it, serviceable.
I’m thankful for the modern times.
